Features
PXT Debit™ cards are secure end-to-end encrypted prepaid smart cards; it is impossible to experience identity theft when using a card. The point-of-sale environment remains the weakest link in the security chain for magnetic stripe payment cards, which is why the PXT issued cards are chip only. Because the PXT Payment system serves both off-line unattended as well as online and attended POS venues PXT cards are based on highly secure chip technology. This key security feature of PXT Debit and other PXT issued cards gains the trust of consumers and protects merchants from costly liability.
The PXT debit card is not linked to the cardholders name, address, or social security number; however, card transactions can be linked to a cardholder's email address given at time of card purchase. These e-mails can then be used to provide marketing data for the downtown loyalty program and its participants.
When PXT Debit cardholders register for lost/stolen card protection they do so confidentially and under our existing privacy policy. Each cardholder will then receive a username and password to report lost/stolen card activity. If they have registered for this safeguard, their funds will be applied to a new card from that reporting period. This feature alone creates an incentive to build a large email database tied to the local market that only the stakeholders in that market can access and use.
PXT Debit cards can be purchased online at the dedicated 'downtown' website or purchased in the participating merchant stores. PXT Debit cards do not have expiration dates.
They will continue to work as long as the chip remains undamaged. If the card is damaged, the cardholder can call PXT customer service and receive a new card with an equivalent balance upon receipt of the old card in a matter of a few days. Therefore, all cardholders are protected against loss of funds on any physically broken card.
